ABOUT RHAD ARCHITECTS

Founded in 2010 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, RHAD Architects initially focused on private home design, residential renovations and commercial interiors. Since its inception, RHAD has developed into a multi-disciplinary studio that maintains its residential focus while pursuing new genres, including; multiple-unit apartment developments, townhomes, public buildings, public art installations and urban gardens. RHAD Architects is a two-time winner of the Lieutenant Governor Award for Architecture and selected as one of Canadian Architect Magazine's “Top Ten Emerging Architecture Firms in Canada”.

RHAD aims to develop innovative design strategies for engaged clients in a collaborative studio atmosphere. RHAD Architects is a team of twelve staff working with professional specialists in structural design, cost consulting, specification writing, technical drafting, and mechanical and electrical design.

The studio has been passionate about entering a new evolution of green building design, Studying ways to keep the crisp lines and detailing of classic modern architecture while developing new envelope strategies for more robust thermal resistance values and using Passive House principles as the basis of all our design projects. Our concern for the planet and our environment has lit our path towards sustainable design while protecting clients against rising energy costs.

We are excited to welcome Cody Gaulton as one of our newest co-op students. Cody is a graduate student from Dalhousie in the Master of Architecture program. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Dalhousie as well as an Architectural Technology Diploma from St Clair College. Cody’s interests in architecture lie in sustainable building technologies and the process of an idea becoming something that has impact in the user’s life. Beyond architecture, Cody enjoys all things food, from gardening to cooking and eating. Welcome to the team, Cody!
