Rayleen Hill established her architectural practice in 2010 to foster a collaborative, studio-based environment that unites diverse skill sets in pursuit of design excellence. Guided by a rigorous application of architectural principles and precedents, her work produces thoughtful, enduring designs that respond meaningfully to their context. Before entering architecture, Rayleen earned a degree in commerce and spent seven years working in banking, equipping her practice with a robust background in business, strategic management, and financial oversight.

Clients value Rayleen’s ability to pair creative leadership with strong organizational insight. This dual perspective allows her to navigate complex stakeholder relationships, streamline project delivery, and ensure design goals align with broader strategic and financial objectives. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded visioning and community engagement for high-profile civic and master-planning initiatives. Her notable contributions include the Stratford Community Campus Master Planning, the Alderney Gate Renewal Project, the Halifax Commons Master Plan, Treehouse Village Eco Housing, and the Hopedale Moravian Mission Master Plan.

Beyond leading her practice, Rayleen actively contributes to architectural education, sustainability, and professional governance. She serves as a sessional instructor at Dalhousie University’s School of Architecture and has acted as a guest critic at the University of Calgary. Additionally, she sits on the Finance and Premises Committee of the Nova Scotia Association of Architects and serves as a long-standing board member of the Clean Foundation, where she advocates for sustainable practice and responsible leadership across the region.

Associate Architect

Jody’s passion for design began in her home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design (specializing in Interior Design) from the University of Manitoba. It was here that she developed a deep appreciation for human-scale architecture and the profound impact everyday environments have on well-being. Her career kicked off in Vancouver with a student position at Measured Architecture, focusing on high-end residential design, followed by hands-on design-build experience at Peter Braithwaite Studio after graduating with her Master’s of Architecture from Dalhousie University. For over five years, Jody has been an integral part of the RHAD team, where she now serves as an Associate Architect.

While her portfolio spans a diverse range of project types, Jody is particularly drawn to community-driven and public architecture. She loves designing spaces that shape collective daily experiences, with career highlights including the Lake Banook Finish Line Tower, the Sieverts Building, and the Lunenburg Daycare. Furthering her professional experience, Jody is a registered Rick Hansen Foundation Professional, ensuring accessibility is a priority in all projects. Outside the studio, Jody stays busy keeping up with her growing family, playing softball, and exploring new destinations.

Architect

Growing up in Mexico immersed in the world of design, Sergio developed a passion for color, light, space, and the built environment at an early age. With both of his parents practicing as architects, he was exposed to the creative and practical elements of the discipline from childhood, making architecture a natural and inspiring career choice. That early foundation laid the groundwork for a dynamic professional journey, eventually leading him to Canada, where he has accumulated eight years of design experience spanning Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Sergio’s Canadian journey began as a co-op student at EBHW and DSRA, which established a strong foundation for his work as an architectural designer at Architecture49in both their Toronto and Halifax offices. Three years ago, he joined the team at RHAD Architects as an Intern Architect, continuing to expand his technical abilities and design voice. His dedication culminated in a major career milestone this past December, when he officially registered as an architect with the Nova Scotia Association of Architects (NSAA).

Throughout his career, Sergio has contributed to a broad portfolio of impactful infrastructure, commercial, and educational developments. His notable project collaborations include the VIA Rail Halifax Station upgrades with DSRA, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection renovations at Pearson Airport with Architecture49 in Toronto, the Meridian mixed-use complex in Halifax, and the Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity at RHAD Architects. Beyond his professional work, Sergio stays active and finds balance by playing football and running.

Project Lead/ Sr. Architectural Technologist
CET, TechNova, RSC

Greg brings a rare combination of hands-on expertise and technical precision to architecture as a Master Carpenter and Certified Engineering Technologist (CET, RSC). Born into a military family in Halifax, his youth was spent moving across Canada, Australia, Germany, and the Canadian High Arctic, instilling a resilient and adaptable approach to design. He began his career on-site as an apprentice carpenter at age 18, later completing trade school at NSCC and working nearly 25 years as a contractor in southern Ontario. Driven to fulfill a lifelong dream, he earned an honours degree in Architectural Technology from Georgian College before running his own design firm in Clarksburg for over a decade.

In 2021, Greg returned to Nova Scotia to be near family and the ocean, joining RHAD's senior leadership team as a Senior Architectural Technologist, Architectural Designer, and Project Manager. His portfolio spans high-end residential mastery—such as Project X on the Bras d'Or Lakes—and high-profile public work, including co-directing the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic Boat School on the Halifax Harbour Boardwalk and lending technical oversight to Bridgewater's Treehouse Co-housing Cooperative. Registered with TechNova, his practice seamlessly bridges practical construction with complex design.

Outside the studio, Greg is an avid outdoorsman, former hockey player, and golfer who enjoys exploring the Maritimes in his RV with his wife of 25 years and their two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Archie and Oland. Deeply connected to his family, he takes great pride in cheering on his daughter as she completes her Master of Architecture at Dalhousie University, carrying forward his passion for the field.

BIM Manager
MET, Dip. Architetcural Technology

Tony Bonnar's path to becoming an Architectural Technologist wasn't a traditional one. His passion for technology led him into the profession almost by accident, but it didn't take long for him to discover a genuine appreciation for the balance of technical problem-solving, innovation, and design that architecture provides.

Since joining RHAD two years ago, Tony has become an integral member of the team, taking on a diverse range of technical and project responsibilities. He oversees many of the firm's technical applications and digital workflows while supporting BIM coordination, construction administration, and the production of architectural renderings across a variety of projects. As his role has grown, Tony has begun leading projects of his own, including the upcoming Hollis Street Heritage Renovation, where he continues to expand his expertise in project delivery and heritage restoration.

Outside the office, Tony is deeply committed to his community and to helping others reach their potential. He is actively involved in youth hockey, dedicating countless hours to the development of young athletes. He is also passionate about health and fitness, spending much of his time personal training and mentoring athletes while continually challenging himself to grow both personally and professionally.
