Graham’s Grove is conceived as a community-focused pavilion that honours the cultural and ecological significance of Banook Lake and the Shubenacadie Canal system. Drawing inspiration from traditional longboats, the building’s parallel forms orient toward the lake inlet, expressing a gesture of respect for the water and its importance to Mi’kmaw life and culture. Natural materials and an elevated, lantern-like façade establish a light presence along the waterfront, while integrating public washrooms, community gathering spaces, and facilities for local organizations.
