The Halifax Explosion Markers commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion on December 6, 1917. The design and installation of the markers aim to share the stories of those affected by the disaster while emphasizing the resilience of the city. Extensive research was conducted through engagement with local communities, HRM archives, and firsthand accounts of the explosion. Following this research, 12 sites were selected and distributed throughout the city, ensuring residents and visitors have access to the history and lasting impact of the Halifax Explosion.
