Seabright Studio
Built on the Aspotagan Peninsula in Nova Scotia, Seabright studio was designed for a local artist. Due to the typography of the area, we placed the studio along a steep embankment sited close to the existing home. We parted the studio into two sections instead of building at one grade. The upper section has easy access to the road, and the lower studio has more dramatic views of the beautiful bay. By cracking the building with an approximate 6-foot drop, the roofline is kept low and allows the roof to follow the grade of the land. This ensures the studio does not overpower the existing home in which it is adjacent.
